A review on the Vocaloid Yume no Series.

This time I’d be talking about some awesome song series that I happen to came across while clicking random videos on YouTube. Song series is like Daughter of Evil and Servant of Evil. Then, it was followed by Daughter of Vengeance, Daughter of Green, etc.

Because I got bored so easily, so my first phrase on the YouTube search bar is always ‘vocaloid’ and then, I’d just click anything that catches the eye. When the video is done, I started clicking on another one, and another one. And then another one. And found myself lost to some anime funny scenes video. Getting lost in YouTube isn’t a good idea,  but sometimes it’s just fun to be done and it helps you discover new YouTubers that interests you as well. Okay, back to business. You see, I was listening to random Vocaloid songs, and came across to the Yume no.. series.

Yume no.. series is a two videos series that are both sung by Megpoid Gumi and Kagamine Rin. The first song is ‘Yume no Kakera’ (Fragment/Pieces of Dreams) and followed by the sequel, ‘Yume no Hajime’ (Beginnings of  Dream). I rarely found any songs with Gumi and Rin duet, so this is a first for me. I have to say, the music and the vocals fit perfectly together. But the things that stands above all is the story.

Yume no Kakera tells about two best friends (Gumi and Rin) who wanted to find their dreams. In the night, they always spend their time at the park wishing that they will find them and would be able to reach those dreams. However, they started having problems on how to grant those dreams.

In the middle of the video Yume no Kakera, there was a point where the vocal stops, and the music plays alone. Here, the image of Rin and Gumi looking at the starry sky was seen. It was also revealed then that Rin’s dream is to pass the entrance exams for a school she wanted to enter, while Gumi’s dream is to be able to confess her love to someone she likes. It was then, they told each other that they would be able to do it if they do their best together.

Both of them fell asleep, and started dreaming of all the possibilities that could happen in the future. After that, they worked hard. Rin paid full attention in her class and started answering questions while Gumi gained her courage and gave a love letter to her love interest. In the end, they stated that ‘In the never-changing life, turn a key and find a dream’.

Yume no Hajime continues the story of the both of them. Rin passed the entrance exams, and was invited to study abroad. She stated that she passed because of the lucky charm Gumi gave her. At the station, (I’m not sure whether it’s on train, light-rail transit or airport, so I stick on station) Gumi gave her a smile, holding back her tears. When she was back at the park, she started thinking about Rin. Rin also started flashbacking the night before at the park, where she stated that she won’t be spending any time here anymore.

The sadness started when the vocals starts singing, ‘a wall blocked our way together.’ They were both sure of their future, but they are going to go separate ways. Rin started remembering on how she saw Gumi’s overflowing tears when she was leaving, and started crying as well. Gumi stated that in the future, she is sure that her best friend would always be sparkling.

In the end, both came to a resolution. Because they just can’t forget about each other, ‘even though we’re apart, we’re always together after all’. ‘So let’s walk, to our own starts.’ Oh yeah, at this part, Gumi was shown next to a green-haired boy. I suggest that’s her love interest.
This song series is very, very sweet that it brought me to tears. So, do watch them, okay?
