Anime Review : Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Hello, little blog of mine. Missed me? >///<

Ehem, so this time, I am going to talk about Puella Magi Madoka Magica! (Kyaah~!) I know that the anime is probably widely-known all over the Net, but I never had the chance to watch it, you see.. So, there was this one time I went to a CD outlet to buy anime DVDs (of course, what did you expect?), and I found the DVD. I was like, *gasp* Madoka Magica, I found you! Of course I’d buy it. It costs about 20 Ringgit Malaysia (RM), you see. That’s quite expensive, for a 14-year-old like me. But, I have money left from Hari
Raya Aidilfitri so I used the money to buy something I like. (It’s definitely worth it)

Kaname Madoka character design

So, the story rounds around Kaname Madoka, a normal girl with a normal life. Best friends, a happy family and a first-year school life. However, everything changed after she had a weird dream about a girl fighting a horrendous evil. The next day, she found the same girl attending her class as a transfer student. After a while, the transfer student – Akemi Homura – warned her of trying to change herself. She told her that if she tries to become someone else, she will lose everything dear to her.

Kaname Madoka and her best friend, Miki Sayaka was chosen by a small, ferret-like looking animal named Kyuubey to be magical girls! Kyuubey explained to them, that he can grant any wish desired by the two. However, in return, the both of them will have to form a contract with him and become magical girls to fight witches. Tomoe Mami, their senior who had contracted with Kyuubey, explained it in a much more easier way. “In return of that wish, you will have to risk your lives.” Well, I have to say that is one of the things I like about animes with fantasy genres. They always have, “in return, you will have to..” Even in mangas! Because, in one fact, when you use magic – for good, or evil nonetheless – you will have to pay the price.

Like, The Magic of Chocolate by Mizuho Rino, or Hell Girl. But, yeah. I’ll talk about that later. Anyways~ I’m not going to tell you the ending of the anime, (because that would be a spoiler..right?) but let me give you a hint. Madoka hesitated a lot before she decided to be a magical girl, but in the end she made a wish you could never expect. I had chills running down my spine when she spoke out her wish. As for the shocking truth, Akemi Homura had done something really admirable all the time. And in the end, you will see a spectacular Madoka in a beautiful dress. If I’m not mistaken it’s called Ultimate Madoka. Kufufu~ >w<

Ultimate Madoka design

About the design~ hmm, this artist has a rare type of anime drawing. It looks like chibi, but it’s not. Also, I would like to note out the look at the eyes. They always have that zig-zag line, so it’s quite attractive in one way. As for the magical girl design, I am soo~ impressed. They’re always so pretty. Especially Madoka’s. She has a Lolita style dress! (Kidding!) The design is well fitting for each character, to put it simply.

setting of the story was probably a little further in the future. I say that because the equipment of the school, and the furniture, and the school design were really futuristic, but other places – such as the abandoned building, the park and the sidewalks - were just normal-looking. That’s why. But, the school design is really pretty. And, Madoka’s house as well! So, very lovely. I want a school AND a house like that.
So, that’s it for now. I’ll see you later!
