Kimi ni Todoke Review
This year, I had no time to do the things I like. This is because PMR is in this year, and everything turns dead weird and it seems that everyone experiencing paradigm shift. Even my texting time had been decreased. Schedule turns a little disciplined as I had to wake up in the morning, iron my clothes, bathe, etc. Typical student schedule. But, do you believe I'm going to study for real? NO. Ahahaha!
This is mainly because I am born lazy. XD No, no. It's just basically, I think that I'm going to do my best but I won't hurt myself in anyway. I'm saying this because I think studying like all hell broke loose is such a waste of your own lifetime. But, I didn't mean you shouldn't study, okay? Study well, learn well, understand well. Make sure you study for fun, and those facts you're trying to memorize is just for extra info in your life. That way, you'd be able to understand stuff better. Plus, when you understand something, you won't be saying, "I surely can score the exams now!" But you'd be thinking, "I feel like Einstein." XD
Which.. Leads me to my school life genre anime review! This time, we're going to talk about one of the cutest anime pairs in anime history, Sawako x Kazehaya! Both characters are from the 2-season anime series, KIMI NI TODOKE! So, how do I find this anime? In general, I knew about this anime when I saw a junior of mine holding an anime file. So, being the otaku I am, I questioned, "Woah? What is that?!"
And she was like, "oh, Kimi ni Todoke."
"Is it good?"
"Yep!" But I didn't actually believe her at that time. This is because I find that the art style was so normal that I started doubting the quality of the anime. I forgot all about the anime since there's new animes like Sword Art Online, and so on. But 6 months later, I got entirely clueless of what to watch, and started remembering what m junior told me. So when I YouTube-ing... Let's just say I got the shock of my own otaku life.
The story was magnificent, entirely. It tells the story of Sawako who has features resembling that of 'Sadako', a ghost from a horror movie called The Ring. (I want to try watching that movie next time, if I had the opportunity, but considering of how much people say that it's an epic piece, I might hold back from watching that one..) Going on, she grows up without any friends and this decreases her ability to talk or interact to people. As the story moves on, the plot twists to a hint of budding romance, a point where Sawako met a total stranger who looks lost wearing the same school uniform as hers. Being the Sawako she is, she told him the right way. At the moment he gave her his brightest smile, everything started.
The story continues on with Sawako getting to know Kazehaya and new friends, Chizuru and Ayano. Follows on with Chizuru's childhood friend Ryu. It was later on revealed that Kazehaya is the type of person who is always smiling and lively earning him the title of 'Sawayaka-san' (Mr. Lively). Well, he is THAT lively. Five minute, he's talking to this guy. The other five minutes, someone asked him to the cafeteria. And the other.. He's just awesome. I mean it. Kazehaya being Kazehaya doesn't like leaving anyone out from anything. So, he showed deep concerns towards Sawako who doesn't seems to interact with anyone at all. At this time, Sawako had greatly admired Kazehaya, stating that he is the perfect role model on what she wanted to be.
And.. Boom! Blushing! The melodramatic + comedy + romance story progressed to the point of a lot of fluffs and thousands of blushing. They might get the title of the most innocent couple, ever! I wanted to talk more about them, actually. But, I just realized if I did so, I might ruin the wakuwaku feeling for the anime. XD Ah, but I have to tell you. The first season was a slow-paced, as expected from a shoujo manga spinoff but the second season would have to be the most slow-paced anime I've ever encountered. Well, I have to say I'm not that good dealing with slow-paced shows, but Kimi ni Todoke had a great narration that it made you stay there in front of your screen wanting to know what happens next. But well, watching the second season was highly worth it. Trust me.
Sawako, is the character with outmost personality development. Since the anime starts off with her life, it is entirely about her own life experience with addition of the other characters in progress. Kuronuma Sawako. Kuro (black) numa (swamp) Sawa (lively) ko (child). Interesting, eh? I personally like on how much innocence she owns, that it made me think, "dang, I'd like that personality too." She's so clueless when it comes to several things, that it made you think.. "Why... You... Sawako! Don't you get it?!" but you simply can't hate her. Ever. She's close to that of a child?
As for Kazehaya. Kazehaya Shouta. XD I was close to laughing when I got to know his last name, however, I found the perfect reason on why he owns that name. When Kazehaya's mad, he'd turn to this cutesy little shota pouting like a five-year old child. Also, in the second season, you'll see more of Kazehaya-awesomeness as his personality turns to that more of a normal guy rather than that forever lasting refreshing personality of his. He's especially, especially cute around Sawako, close to Sawako, next to Sawako, or thinking about Sawako. I'd have to say his cuteness is on par with Kirito-kun from Sword Art Online, but that's just what I personally think, so it's okay to have your own opinion.
The other characters, Chizuru! I love her personality and how she's always being the type of typical rough character in every anime. However, the creators of Kimi ni Todoke made a little twist and made her character the reliable, yet the sentimental. There are times where she snaps and blurts out everything she's thinking, and these times is when Chizu's the coolest so do watch out for these. Also, sometimes Chizuru could be as clueless as Sawako, so look forward to the little comedy skits she's always making! As for Ayano, is the type of cool, calm and collected character, yet could snap and turns so scary. She the type of girl who wears thick makeup and is good with fashion, but turns out to be someone who cares deeply for her friends, and also makes great strategies and best advices.
Lastly, the baseball player, Ryu! Aha! He's so bad with names. Sometimes he doesn't even remember someone's name and says honestly, "sorry, I'm bad with names." I think the only names he managed to remember is Kazehaya, being his closest friend and Chizu being his childhood friend. In the beginning, he appeals as the extra character without a reason, but as the story progressed, he gives great advice to Shota from time to time and also, to Sawako and Chizu. He's a great guy, anyways. :3
The opening of this anime is a great lullaby, a calming and something that appeals the refreshing theme of the anime. I didn't actually pay attention to the OSTs.. Ah, sorry! Music producers, I'm so very sorry! I was so absorbed to the story and the character flow that somehow the OSTs blend in so perfectly that I don't even realize it was there!
The best shoujo anime I've seen so far would've to be, Kimi ni Todoke! KazehayaxSawako for the win! Plus, could you imagine, Kuronuma Sawako's name turns to Kazehaya Sawako..? Kyaahhh! XD
