Review : Norn9
I have never expected to actually write one of these game reviews, but I really can't help it because I am extremely hooked on this game and for the longest time ever, I am actually planning to finish it.
Also I'm playing the Japanese version - but lately I heard that Aksys Games released the English version so you can check that out as well.
Reason number one on why I play otome games in the first place is usually because of the voice actors (which my friend quoted as my 'not so subtle obsession') and I remembered that the first otome game I played was RE:Alistair. It's a free otome game that was released for the PC Engine which was pretty interesting.
Later then, I got introduced to a lot of otome games through videos of events like Otomate Party, and sites such as fuwanovel and such. I got better in my Japanese reading skills by then, and the Norn9 anime release was decided.
I had been a fan of otome game-based anime for quite awhile, so I was really hyped up for it. More than anything the visuals are already so good I actually did a whole research upon the series and was so excited when I found out that a continuation called Norn9 Last Era is in the making.
So I tried playing the game.
ANIME ADAPTATION
For those saying that the anime adaptation is too fast-paced etc. you should really play the game to actually say anything. Norn9 game is perfect - the BEST THING EVER, and it's really, really NICE. The anime turned out as it is because it's way beyond possible to actually fit nine routes in an entire anime.
The scenery in the anime was EPIC though. You can't see those in the game. They practically designed every inch and corner of Norn, which deserves more than just mere credit.
CHARACTERS
What's nice about Norn9 is the fact that there is actually THREE heroines to choose from with three different personalities. Each heroines has THREE possible routes, which sounds more realistic than having one heroine with 12 guys falling in love with her at the same time (*cough* Brothers Conflict *cough*).
Though the heroines all have the basic heroine personalities - the cute Koharu, the silent Nanami and the confident Mikoto - what's great about them is the fact that their character development is super good. By the end of the game, each of the character will have a different personality entirely and it's just so adorable I can't even-
Also did I mention that even the heroines are VOICED in this game? Their voice acting is really, really good, and it gets you so into the game and plot of the story.
